This is the principle management position within the Environmental Services Department. Provides leadership and
Supervision for departmental employees as employees perform their daily duties in order to create a safe and clean environment at Tift Regional Medical Center. Under the general direction of Vice President of Professional Services, ensures that the diverse organization will provide Environmental Services functions which are fundamental to both the conduct of the division operations and the achievement of the hospital's operational objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct department in providing Environmental Services to all patients, (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric), visitors, physicians and hospital employees. Adheres to TRHS Compliance Program, Code of Conduct and TRHS policies and procedures and HIPPA Privacy and Security Initiatives. Adequately instructs members of department on applicable policies and legal requirements. Uses reasonable diligence to detect noncompliance with applicable policies and legal requirements within his/her department. Informs members of his/her department that strict compliance with the Compliance policies and requirements is a condition of employment
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and TRHS' regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
Knowledge of healthcare material management, including purchasing, inventory accounting and supply and distribution functions. General knowledge of environment of care requirements of hospitals. Leadership ability, communications skill, computer skills, typing skills and people skills are of extreme importance in this position. Supervisory skills and abilities learned from education, training and experience.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree. Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in Environment of Care area or related field. Capable of working accurately at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions. Capable of effective communications both written and verbal. Capable of making sound decisions, quickly tactfully, versatile and adaptable to change priorities.
Must possess a wide range of body mechanics involving bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and pushing. Also requires lifting large and small objects by weight and bulk and some degree of climbing.
Normal office environment, requires walking, sitting and standing to a significant degree. At times can be a stressful environment.
