Job Description

(Basic purpose of the job):

This is a front line position within Environmental Services Department. Primarily responsible for daily maintenance of hospital floors in regards to stripping, waxing, buffing, dust mopping and wet mopping. Also responsible for special event room set up, office moving involving, heavy lifting and cleaning, trash and hazardous waste collection as assigned. Ability to fill in and assist with routine, discharge and area cleaning. Accountable for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital in accordance to hospital policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides a clean and sanitary hospital environment for infants, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in

accordance with established hospital policy.

Interacts with patients, families, visitors, physicians, contract personnel and hospital employees.

Understands and adheres to TRHS' compliance standards as they appear in TRHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code

of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have ability to follow established procedures and grasp training as provided. Must have good communication skills and an understanding of the English language. Must have knowledge of or ability to obtain knowledge through training of use of floor maintenance equipment. Use proper body mechanics and appropriate tool/equipment when setting up room and moving furniture. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Must be dependable; exhibit professionalism; have integrity; be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; possess problem solving skills; possess knowledge to interpret and follow instructions; able to relate to various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; accept alternatives to the usually accepted norms without being judgmental; be in good general health; possess audio and visual acuity; complete pre-employment and annual physical requirements (including alcohol and drug screens).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Floor maintenance related experience preferred.

Capable of working accurately at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions.

Capable of functioning independently after orientation/training is complete.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to be on feet, walking or standing, up to 90% of shift. Must possess a wide range of body mechanics bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and pushing. Also requires lifting large and small objects by weight and bulk and some degree of climbing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work in an acute care hospital with adequate lighting and climate control. May be exposed to communicable and infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, verbal or physical abuse and hazardous chemicals. Frequently exposed to varying levels of noise from phones, machinery, patients and visitors and at times can be a stressful environment. Mentally and emotionally stable.
