Job Description

Primarily responsible for providing professional emergency treatment in the pre-hospital setting. Primarily treats and transports the sick or injured. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare.
High School graduate or GED equivalent. Completion of a vocational training program as a Paramedic. Six (6) months experience. Current Georgia Paramedic certification. Valid Georgia driver's license. Current AHA, BLS certification. Current AHA, ACLS certification. AHA PALS certification or within 9 months of hire. CPT training within 9 months of hire. NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Must have the physical ability to perform the job as determined by a physical agility performance evaluation. Must have the ability to communicate both oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, volunteers and management. Must be able to effectively perform prolonged work under adverse emergency conditions involving physical and mental stress. Must be able to think clearly and use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations, which may occur. Must be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment. Must be able to utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc. Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
